The team behind the success of Robson & Jerome is launching the solo
career of stage star Darren Day. RCA A&R consultant Simon Cowell has
drafted in Mike Stock and Matt Aitken to produce a double A-side single,
coupling covers of Cliff Richard's Summer Holiday and Bachelor Boy.
Promotional plans centre on three prime time TV shows, including the
National Lottery Live, to coincide with the release on May 27. Cowell
says, "We are approaching it in a similar way to Robson & Jerome - it's
a cover version and it's launching off a fairly hefty TV tie-in. We're
hoping for a number one, but you can only set the records up to the best
of your abilities and then hope the public like it."
