Ellie Campbell
Ellie is set to clean up IN a real rags to riches story, wannabe Ellie
Campbell changed overnight from chambermaid to pop starlet and looks set
to sweep the competition away.
Described as Britain's answer to Britney Spears, the rollercoaster of
fame started two years ago for Huddersfield-born Ellie, 20. "I was at
college and decided to take a year out. I took on a couple of cleaning
jobs just to keep some money coming in," she says.
But all the time she was working on her music.
And no one is more surprised by her sudden success than Ellie. "I still
can't believe that all this is happening to me!" she adds.
Pop Svengali Pete Waterman spotted Ellie's star quality and has produced
her new song So Many Ways.
"When I walked in, Pete said to me: `You look good, but can you sing?'
He's been behind some of the biggest names in pop so he knows good from
bad." And so impressed was Mr Waterman, he signed Ellie up after hearing
her sing just three lines!
"Ever since then, it's been mad. But I'm keeping my head screwed on
because I'm just a normal Huddersfield girl who's been given an
extraordinary chance."
Ellie's blossoming career was almost cut short after a near-death
experience while filming the video in Spain.
"Our driver ran into the back of two cars rather than go over a cliff.
Good choice - it was 300 feet high!
"I'm pleased that I'm here to tell the tale!
"The important thing is that I'm healthy and raring to go."
