LAGS FURY AS WARDERS TREAT STAR LIKE A VIP
by Rachael Bletchly
SHAMED actor John Alford got VIP treatment behind bars from star-struck
prison warders, the Sunday People can reveal.
Furious fellow inmates claim the London's Burning star - freed early on
Friday - breezed through his seven weeks behind bars after getting an
easy ride from staff.
Outraged lags claimed Alford's preferential treatment included the
SMARTEST clothes, the most COMFORTABLE cell and the BEST job in tough
Pentonville prison.
And they say he was allowed to jump the queue and opt for early release
on the electronic tagging system.
A prisoner who shared the same landing as Alford, 27, said: "He must
have served one of the cushiest sentences of all time.
"The screws gave him VIP treatment from day one and treated him with kid
gloves. It was as if he was a major movie star."
The actor was jailed for nine months in May for supplying cannabis and
cocaine.
