Telly John Hit By P.R. Porkies
THE pop career of London's Burning star John Alford is being launched
in a most curious way - with his own record company leaking sleazy
rumours about his love-life.
Producer Mike Stock and PR man Graeme Hill claim he is cheating on
long-term love Tina, presumably in a bid to hype sales of his debut
single.
Hill gleefully told me how Alford - who plays Blue Watch's Billy - has
been "busy with his sausage." And he added: "He's been ill recently so
if you want a nice picture of him looking rough get down to the London's
Burning set on Monday."
Stock - the man behind the huge success of Robson and Jerome and a
former partner of Pete Waterman - also told me: "There is some truth in
the rumours that John has been seeing someone other than Tina.
"But I don't know who has been spreading these rumours."
Over the last week I have been bombarded with calls from a Simon
Thompson who claims to have more juicy secrets about Alford.
Progress
He used a mobile phone - registered to Stock's Love This
label!
When I quizzed Alford, 22, he said: "I really don't need this mate. I
wish I'd stuck to acting. I've been with Tina for eight years and I
don't want her hurt." Frankly I couldn't care less if their sausage
stories are a load of porkies. But after being accused of chart rigging
by CIN - official Top 40 compilers - you'd think Stock would rely on
talent and not seedy scams to get success.
It's no mistake I've failed to mention the title and release date
of John's single. I'll watch its progress with interest.
