Jason Donovan tells Whispers that I'd love to have recorded that
Cliff single 'I Just Don't Have The Heart' y'know. In fact I nearly did.
Pete Waterman played me the demo ages ago, about a year ago I reckon if
memory serves, and I said then 'Pete', I said, 'this is one for me mate,
I could do the business with that one'". But t'was not to be for the
demo, like Rick Astley's tea, lay cold and unloved at Waterman Towers
until the call from Lord Cliff came. The song is a dead ringer for a
Jase song though. Says the Don of Van: If I ever do a covers album I'll
certainly sing that. It's a classic ballad, it's miles better than
anything else in the chart, exceptin' my own disc of course."
