The fight for Kylie's millions
by Jane Preston
The English songwriting team who wrote Kylie Minogue's early hits are
embroiled in a legal battle over copyright royalties. They wrote more than
100 top 40 hits for various artists, sold 35 million records and made
$200m. The team are Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman. Stock and
Aitken want royalties from Minogue's hits, and from those of fellow
Australian, Jason Donovan. Stock and Aitken are unhappy with audits of
royalty payments and want a third share of the royalties. The fight is
expected to go all the way to the High Court.
