Club chart commentary

For the second time in the company's nine-year history, PWL-related
labels hold down the top two slots in the club chart, with Loveland's
'I Need Somebody' taking the title ahead of the Happy Clappers' 'I
Believe'. Both records first came out in January, with 'I Need
Somebody' performing best then, reaching number two on the club chart
and 21 on the CIN chart. The Happy Chappers' single, on the Newcastle
indie Shindig, fell short of both the Club and CIN at this point, but
was taken under the PWL wing and also peaked at 21 on the CIN chart in
June, while reaching a modest 26 on the Club Chart. Even though it has
already been out twice this year, it has been embraced this time around
by the clubs, and will be looking to improve it's CIN standing when
reissued later this month. Both 'I Need Somebody' and 'I Believe' have
Notloveland mixes - the name (temporarily?) adapted by the
remnants of Loveland following the split with Paul Taylor. A rival
version of 'I Believe', by Celvin Rotane, debuts at 22 on the
Club Chart ...
